Christmas at Canberra Airport 2022
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here at Canberra Airport.
This festive season will be the peak travel time of 2022 at Canberra Airport. We expect traveller numbers to increase from Thursday, 15 December, with the morning period being the busiest.
Michael Thomson, Head of Aviation said, "We want everyone to get to their destinations safely and smoothly, so they can enjoy spending the holidays with their loved ones.
If you haven’t travelled for some time, our passenger screening may differ from the last time you travelled, and we also have a number of new staff at the airport, so don’t forget that kindness is contagious."
Take the stress out of your travel and arrive at the airport with a little extra time before your flight. Check in, pass through security and enjoy the festive spirit inside the terminal. There are plenty of last-minute gift options, or you can grab a bite at our many food and beverage outlets.
Oh Christmas Tree 🎄
Our giant Christmas tree takes a full day to piece together and requires a scissor lift to decorate. It’s located right in the middle of the central atrium, just beyond security.
Behind the tree you’ll notice our popular snowflake window decals but look closely, they’re not what they seem at first.
Carols 🎶
Canberra girls choir are spreading the Christmas spirit throughout the Airport. The talented local group will be in the terminal on in the lead up to Christmas, performing a cappella carols under the giant Christmas tree.

Santa Visits 🎅Â
Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a visit from Santa. He’ll be in the Airport on Monday 19th - Wednesday 21st December.
Santa will be giving out Christmas Cookies and Candy Canes to the young and the young at heart celebrating the festive season.Â
